Minnesota Police and
Peace Officers Association

2022 Endorsements

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) is the largest association representing police and peace officers in the State of Minnesota.

MPPOA, as the legislative voice for our members, works aggressively to support legislative proposals that improve public safety and oppose those that harm our profession. We also seek to improve the working conditions and retirement benefits for police and peace officers and their families.

In addition to legislative advocacy, MPPOA promotes and endorses political candidates who have demonstrated or are committed to platforms and issues that benefit the public safety profession and our members. MPPOA’s Board of Directors will take up candidate endorsements of the following offices in Minnesota: State House, State Senate, and member of Congress. We will also consider endorsement of County Attorney in the Twin Cities area.

Every candidate can seek MPPOA’s endorsement by completing a short questionnaire found online here:https://bit.ly/2022MPPOA Our members will support candidates support our legislative priorities:

  1. Promote and protect legislation that impacts public safety,
  2. Support legislation improving and supporting PERA and MSRS benefits for current and retired police and peace officers,
  3. Protect and strengthen collective bargaining rights for police and peace officers,
  4. Support increased public safety.

Responses are requested by June 20, 2022. At that time, the MPPOA’s Board of Directors, along with our Executive Director and lobbying team, will use the responses to the questionnaire, along with selected past floor votes on the House and Senate public safety omnibus bills (if applicable), to determine a possible endorsement. We anticipate making candidate endorsements in late June/early July, with another potential round of endorsements made in September, post-Primary Election. Because we also maintain a legislative fund, a potential direct contribution will also be determined along with endorsement.
